With all the new front ends that Harley Davidson is producing I'm thinking about changing up the lower joints on these bars. The new trees us integrated clamps that are only a half in tall. My bars fit thes clamps but its a close fit. I feel like a lot of new bike owners think these won't work because of my coped lower joints. I'm thinking of switching up the coped ends so they are like my Quarter racers.

I do get the question of "why don't you do the z'ed or mitered joints". My answer: because they are weak! I don't like to build weak bars. Plus everyone builded mitered bars. I would just be building the same thing as everyone else and sacrificing strength. Sorry,...no thanks. When I do use the mitered lower joints ill only do it if the bars are short and or supported somewhere else on the tube. Look at any tall unsupported bars that have the mitered joints and you'll see a history of them cracking. That's a lot of leverage on a simple butt joint.

I have two 69 sportys. This one is loosly assembled and the other is a total disassemble. There is no title for either and I don't know what it will take to get them going. I assume the parts from one will complete the other.

The more complete one is kick only and has the horseshoe bag everyone is looking for along with a Magneto. The second one is an electric start/ kick but is missing the engine cases.

So,... Ive never been a fan of Pilsner beers but I got an education the other day.

I always thought they were either flavorless or just down right skunky.

Pilsner Beers are super light in body and ingredients that the tinyest influences will completly change them. I tryed these two Pilsner Urquells; one in a bottle and the other in a can. Same beer, different containers. That alone made them taste 180 degrees apart. The beer in the can was clean and crisp. Im gonna say that it has been the only Pils ive tryed and have liked to date. The one in the bottle was just gross and skunky. I couldnt drink it.

It turns out that the hops in beer will skunk when its exposed to light. Ive heard of this but, having had alot of green bottle beers I never really put much thought into it. Trying the two right next to eachother was a real eye opener.

I started swaping part around on Der Shovel. I'm Pretty much throwing on parts I've collected and having laying around. I don't really have a solid plan for it other than its gonna stay a swing arm and be able to haul a passenger if I want to. Is what I'm calling "My Shop Truck".

I'm loving this narrowglide on there. I need to get the wheel trued up because it walks all over the place.

I might do a short wideglide with a 16 if I come accross the parts later down the road. The w/g that came on the bike has too much rake.

Personally, I'm not a big fan. Id rather have my bars slip if I wreck. I just tighten my risers properly and have never had them slip while going down the road. I can understand having them if your running a taller bar and are putting a lot of leverage on the risers but,....with knurls,...if they slip your chewing up your clamps.

Some people like them and some people dont.

The choice is yours.

This is one of the cleanest throttle assemblys out there. All aluminum construction [even the throttle tube] and it comes with all of the different adapters to be able to fit different cables. Don't trust your life to those crappy chinese plastic throttles that dry rot and crumple or break when you tighten them down.
